Hello and welcome to CRNA on FIRE. I am a 42yo Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist who provides anesthesia services to a large number of patients everyday. I am happily married to an amazing husband and the mother of one beautiful little girl. I am pursuing FIRE which stands for Financial Independence, Retire Early. The FIRE movement has gained a lot of speed lately as a way for people to quit jobs they hate…but this journey is a little different. You see, I don’t hate my job and I love my profession. However, I do hate how we’ve allowed lifestyle creep to enforce a life of working for the next 25 years. I hate that we’ve been careless with money that could have accrued compound interest. I hate that, as a result, I have no choice but to work for a company that has a toxic culture because they pay the most. I hate that I have to work when they tell me to, not when I want to. Basically, I’ve become “woke AF” as they say.
I decided to start writing this blog as a way to hold myself accountable and maybe other people will read it and learn from our mistakes. In future posts, I will dive into more detail about our finances, our poor money choices, and the decisions that have been made to help rectify things. I will also discuss how this FIRE journey is a little one-sided because my husband isn’t exactly on board with everything at this time. Hopefully, he will get excited about FIRE soon as his other option is to listen to me complain about my job for the next 25 years. It’s your choice honey…xoxo
